Welcome to St. Anthony Catholic School!

May 13, 2025

Dear St. Anthony Catholic School Families and Community,

Greetings in the name of the Risen Lord.

As many of you are aware, our beloved principal, Mrs. Kristine Galemmo, will be transitioning to a new leadership role as principal of a Catholic school in Charleston. We are deeply grateful for her six years of exceptional service to St. Anthony Catholic School, and we wish her continued success and God’s blessings in her new mission.

To ensure a smooth and thoughtful leadership transition, a Principal Selection Committee will soon be formed in collaboration with the Diocese of Charleston. This committee will guide a formal search process to identify the next principal of St. Anthony Catholic School, grounded in our Catholic mission, core values, and the evolving needs of our growing school community.

In the interim, I am pleased to announce that Mrs. Elle Thomas will serve as Interim Principal. Mrs. Thomas has graciously accepted this responsibility with a deep commitment to upholding the vibrant, Gospel-rooted culture of our school, centered on faith, hope, and love.

A lifelong Catholic and multilingual educator, Mrs. Thomas is a graduate of Saint Louis University, a Jesuit institution, and a product of Catholic education from preschool through university. She completed the Prospective Leadership Formation Program through the Diocese of Charleston, preparing her to lead with clarity, purpose, and vision.

Before joining St. Anthony, Mrs. Thomas served for ten years as Director of the Early Childhood Program at MERS Goodwill, a nonprofit organization, where she oversaw budgeting, staff supervision, and grant writing. At St. Anthony, she has taught Religion, Math, World Culture, and Spanish; served as Director of the House System; and has been an integral member of the Leadership Committee for over four years. Her two children are proud graduates of St. Anthony Catholic School, and her dedication to our school’s mission is both personal and profound.

Please join me in offering heartfelt thanks to Mrs. Galemmo for her faithful and inspiring leadership. Let us also warmly welcome Mrs. Thomas as she steps into this important role.

Let us continue to keep both of these dedicated leaders—and our entire school community—in our prayers during this time of transition. May God bless our efforts and guide us forward with wisdom and grace.

In Christ’s peace and love,
Fr. Johnbosco Duraisamy
